Today is the start of ComICA a three week long comic arts festival in London. ComICA is important to Adam and I because of the launch of Ctl.Alt.Shift Unmasks Corruption at the festival. Ctl.Alt.Shift Unmasks Corruption is an anthology comic featuring stories by over 20 different artists, including Dave Mckean and Bryan Talbot. Not to mention that it also contains a story by Adam and I, the first story we have done together to be published in print. So this is something of a milestone in our careers. I grew up reading Mckean and Talbot, and the fact that our first published tale is alongside their work is truly gratifying.

More information on ComICA in general can be found here.

And a Preview of Ctl.Alt.Shift Unmasks Corruption can be seen here.

If you are attending ComICA please pick up the book and let us know what you think. We are excited to read it and proud of the story within. And if you picked up the book and followed our bio here, please take a moment to check out our site, read some of our ongoing webcomics, and feel free to comment on anything or send us an email at the addresses listed.

Fairly big news. In November, Adam and I have a story titled The Cure being published in an anthology comic called Ctrl.Alt.Shift Unmasks Corruption. This is the first work that we have done together to be be published in print, and what’s more there are some huge creators contributing other stories to the book, including the incomparable Bryan Talbot.

Ctrl.Alt.Shift describe themselves as an experimental youth initiative, and are donating all proceeds from the book to charity. The theme of the book is simply: corruption. We were left to our own devices as long as we stayed within this theme. We delivered a six page science fiction story dealing with corporate greed in the face of humanity’s survival. Science fiction, and indeed fiction seem to be different approaches than most of the other creators took and we are anxious to read the book.

Unfortunately for us, and for most of our readers, the book is only being published in the UK [for £4.99, online and at various comic retailers]. If you are the one reader in the UK that seems to come to our site weekly, please pick it up. Once the shared copyright with Ctrl.Alt.Shift expires, we will post the story here for our readers not in the UK.

The book is being debuted at the Comica Festival in London, and you can read more about the project and the other creators involved at the Comica website.

Woke up to the dulcet tones of some sort of homeless man turf warm outside the window, happy to have not been stabbed in the night Checked the door lock mechanism for signs of tamper/stress, found none, heaved a sigh of relief and got ready for the day.

Got in a minor fight with a taxi cab driver and stomped off to Starbucks for some breakfast. After breakfast we went down to the convention center, the girls broke off from us to go do some sort of girl thing, and Adam and I went to artist alley and caught up with Zander Cannon and Ryan Kelly.

Adam made a sketch a couple of months back featuring Mark Waid and Waid saw it and made a donation to the hero initiative for it so we dropped it by the Boom! Studios booth. Waid is a super nice guy and invited us to the Boom! Studios drink up at the Hyatt later in the evening.

We saw most of the editors we needed to, but only in passing and we hit some panels the highlight of which was the Mad Science panel hosted by Phil Plait. I drooled a bit over the Strontium Dog collected editions at the 2000 A.D. booth, I think I’ll pick up a few.

We ditched the con and went to meet up with the girls who were bouncing back and forth between different True Blood after parties.

Hit the Boom! Studios drink up and then caught a cab ride back to the hotel, no fight this time, in fact the cab driver was a pretty great guy. Took a much deserved shower and now its off to bed. We’ve taken to sleeping in shifts so one of us can stay awake to stoke the fire and keep the darkness at bay.
